Welcome to the first Online Class by John DeCollibus!
A sought after penman from around the world, we are excited to share the work of John's career with you. Please take a look at the short video to learn more about what you will learn during this 6 week class.
When John first saw Madarasz’s script over 25 years ago he was immediately drawn to it. John sees his style as a combination of Copperplate and Spencerian. The goal, in this course, is to add some “Dash” to your present script!
This six week course will cover proper arm movement, variations in speed, warm up exercises, lower case, and the all important capital letters that make Madarasz’s style stand out from the rest. There will be homework, and a rare opportunity to have your work critiqued after the course. By sending your best homework/sample to John, he will review and offer constructive comments and notations, and return your work for your continued study.
While many students simply wish to add some flourished capitals to their lower case copperplate script, others want the total Madarasz look. One possible challenge of learning this script is "whole arm movement". It is essential to the Madarasz style script. Some students struggle with this, yet it will be important to practice, as the natural tendency is to revert back to finger movement which is fine for lower case letters, but not for capitals.
